A late November walk at Moose Point.
I sketched with no glasses on & big old bulky gloves because
it was C-O-O-O-L-D & windy!!
A friend said that November's landscape is too Stark.
Stark: Especially by the sea, Stark for me is crisp & cold & sparse,
& on a sunny day the blue-greens of the sea
are intensified by the diminished colors of the earth.
Nature has sort of de-cluttered her space for awhile &
I can enjoy the bare essentials.
PS. After some time, yesterday's sketch from the upper window
didn't feel quite finished. Voilà, a bit more elaboration.
Barbara of Folkways Notebook,
I liked your idea to cut a few branches to bring indoors...!
Any season works for you:)
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy your miniatures.
ReplyDeleteThere is beauty in starkness, and you find it and render it so perfectly. Perhaps starkness also is esp. suited to pen and ink (and watercolor), mm?
ReplyDeleteMmmm...Perhaps you have something there, Sharon...Stark & minimal, I do enjoy that...
Deletei like the blues and browns in the top! so pretty!
ReplyDeleteand i agree - any season works for you and your magic!
Ociepliłaś wczorajszy szkic i ślicznie to wygląda. Widok morza, nawet w zimne dni, jest zawsze miłym przeżyciem. Dlatego też Twój szkic uwielbiam. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the cold from your 1st drawing.. And I like those sweet winter colors..
ReplyDeleteI noticed it's 44 degrees F in southern France today. Here it's around 32 degrees F, it snowed a bit & then rained. It's a different kind of chilly than that other sunny, windy day in the drawing, & it brings a whole different palette of colors. Très gris! Merci de ta commentaire!
DeleteA walk along Moose Point -- sounds intriguing -- especially with the winter description you describe. Where you have moved yourself to sounds so rural filled with nature as in your nice watercolor. Someday I will have that type of environment again -- do miss it. All good things take time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention on your P.S.-- enjoy your cuttings! -- barbara
You will, but I know you are making the most of your current environment!! Thank you for your comment, Barbara.
DeletePerfect shade of blue-green!
ReplyDeleteblue & brown landscape - przepiękne:)
ReplyDeletei tried to sketch outdoor last friday (from my car LOL, it was SOOOO cold), but everything around was grey-grey-and-more-grey... maybe i have to try with a drop of blue too?
Grey grey & more grey...Today while driving I was seeing: goldish grey & brownish grey & bluish grey & reddish greys...I think I'm going to do a little grey color mixing chart! I like your idea of sketching in the car. I'm going to try that. Dziękuje, Lady Aga!
ReplyDeleteRita, I'm catching up with you here for the first time in awhile and enjoying your art and words (as always). I like your idea of nature decluttering... sometimes it's all about getting back to basics and enjoying the essence of things/life.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good Thanksgiving! Thank you for the card. I had my best TG in years! More soon, Beth
