Self Portrait from Memory...How can I forget?
These things go on & off so often these days...
Snap, wrap, pull, tie, zip...Those were good things we learned in Kindergarten.
But make sure you do them
BEFORE you put on those big old Bulkaroonie gloves!
Remember when once upon a time,
you could just grab your bag, slip on some clogs...& go?
Hahahahaha from Winter Wonderland!
really cute. yes, i remember those snow-sodden days from my wisconsin youth - and thawing out in front of the heating vent after coming back in.
ReplyDeleteI guess those days are gone for you. In Texas I guess it is protection from summer weather that is more dominant...
DeleteGreat portrait and oh, how it captures these days of bundling!
ReplyDeleteBundle up! The greeting of the week!
DeleteYea, I remember clogs and just grabbing a bag….I'm old but not that old.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is, that the earliest I've seen daffodils poking their hardy little heads out of the ground against the foundation of an old house on Congress Street near Stroudwater, was February 24th. Now, seriously, that's not THAT far away, is it???
(Well, maybe it is….)
Daffodils!! I had forgotten that they exist!! Stay warm!
DeleteYou kill me, have I mentioned that lately? In a good way of course, LOL! This is way too cute, love the commentary, and yes, I am in the same boat (or should I say sled) in Michigan! Stay cozy my friend.
ReplyDeleteHeh Heh! There is being cozy & then there is looking cozy!! I heard you all lost power & went through ice storms as we did. I'd love to see your winter get-up!
DeleteDear Rita, since there will be less Polish on my blog this year, I will try to leave you comments in Polish, so that you can keep practicing. I was so happy to read that I've inspired you to refresh your Polish.
ReplyDeleteSo here it goes: Pani Rita ubrana na cebulkę :-)
Dziękuje Zosiu. I looked up "ubrana na cebulkę". Though I knew it meant "dressed like an onion" I didn't put the layers part together! How delightful, thank you for this new expression! I am smiling now! And I will be delighted if you will leave me notes in Polish!
DeleteDo you really wear so much clothes?!
ReplyDeleteI saw on tv that noth-east from USA was under snow with very low temperatures.; I hope you're safe and warm inside home.
Take a good care of you!
Yes, and those are just the clothes you see. Underneath people wear: layers of shirts & sweaters, & some wear long underwear! I wonder what you are wearing these days as you stand near the mimosa trees & the sea!
DeleteSimply trousers , short shoes (chaussures basses) , chaussettes-bas, a t-shirt with long arms, a coat when I go outside.
DeleteSometimes a scarf.I did not wear a real pull-over made of wool since years!
I love this self-portrait! That is how I look these days, too. No school for the state on Monday per the governor's decree due to extreme temperatures!
ReplyDeleteThe governor made a wise choice! I guess this is just how we have to look for awhile!
DeleteRita -- I remember snow like yours from my Michigan youth. Snow then seemed only enjoyable for kids and retirees. Oh and dogs too. Your sketch is great -- that's the real dress-up fashion for your type of weather! ( I still love snow) -- barbara
ReplyDeleteBarbara, yes, me too, in spite of the realities, I still love snow...I didn't know until recently that Michigan had such a wintry climate. R
DeleteI know that you understand this type of winter fashion!!
ReplyDeleteLove that you show yourself with rosy cheeks. it's all about wearing the right clothing , so you should be warm .
ReplyDeleteRito, a u nas w Polsce ciepło, cały grudzień i teraz też +7 stopni , właśnie idę rysować. Brak śniegu nie martwi mnie wcale, bo w zeszłym roku śnieg leżał jeszcze na Wielkanoc.
ReplyDeleteUbierania "na cebulkę" też nie znoszę;)
Elenka does caricatures of the family from time to time. Great chuckles... great memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comment on my blog. I just love your sketches and your blog so I have joined in to be one of your loyal followers. I've just taken a short peek on your blog but I will be back to see all your work. What an amazing and gifted artist you are and I especially love this one...brings back so many great memories of my own childhood. We used to bundle up so much to go out and do some sledding but we had so many clothes on we could hardly move. How blessed you are to be living in Belfast...it is one of our most favorite places to go to and we go very often to walk on the walkway by the harbor and to enjoy the ocean there. I'm sure you noticed that so many of my photos are of Belfast. Hope you are keeping warm and it looks like it might warm up a little bit for a day or so.
ReplyDeleteWowie! That is soooo cold!! What a great drawing - I just LOVE your style!! Stay warm! xoxo Silke
Pozdrawiam cieplutko.
This was a fresh delight. I fell out of the drawing and painting bubble in the 1970s and have never been able to climb back in.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute self-portrait. I like your rosy cheeks! Hope it will warm up for you there soon!
