A cold winter's day at a local home garden shop.
The proprietor of Brambles welcomed 7 of us sketchers,
& even lent us stools. (I ended up buying mine!)
Brambles is one of
the most artistic and nourishing to the senses shops
I've ever been in!
The owner, so friendly, so happy, and no wonder!
She is surrounded,
all day long, by gorgeous colors, scents,
handmade objects that she herself has selected,
plants that she has grown,
and by cheerful customers and visiting friends!
Aaah, can you smell the flowers?
This in mid January! Note the contrast!
Outdoors, let it snow (and be monochromatic!)
Brambles will infuse you with happiness
during any season!
Love your work and THIS place! Be still my gardener's heart and love of art:)!!
ReplyDeleteCome visit the shop next time you're in Maine, Monique!! You would take such gorgeous photos there!
DeleteWhat a wonderful place to visit/shop/sketch! I love your rooster and the shop is so inviting! BIggest sigh -- you have a gem there.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your Gypsy visits. You asked about the X-box. Yes, the glue is very strong. I use it for fabric but it's actual name is "sticker maker" and I can see why. Mostly I've done it with paper as the substrate but I've also used canvas. Never tried it with water to see how it holds up or excess cold or heat but in general, no problems!
I do hope that Beatrix Potter book is in your future! It's a beauty!
Yes, a gem...We Sketchers get to find all kinds of local gems! I thought of the various shops that you show in your blog. Thanks for the glue tips, Jeanie...
DeleteCertainly one of my favorite stores. We both honed in on the chicken in the first photo!!
ReplyDeleteThat chicken, close up it's so beautiful, painted wood, lovely textures! And so much there in that shop.
Deletewhat rich inspiration. we all need a Brambles in our hometowns.
ReplyDeleteYes, shops like that have Spirit and Beauty, brattacat!
DeleteWish I was there . . .
ReplyDeleteImagining the scrumptiousness!
I wish you could come visit it...I think you would enjoy it, Lynne!
DeleteRita first your sketch really captures the charm of this place. Second I just wish I could go there too. I am sure it would inspire me during the gray months of winter. Have a great day. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo, we are sharing a theme, Debbie. The contrast of color to winters grays! Thank you for your comment about my drawing...coming from you, that means a lot! Maybe someday you will visit Maine and this shop!
DeleteWitam. W bardzo ciekawym miejscu byłaś. W sklepie ciekawe produkty, kwiaty w oknie, a za nimi zima. Śliczny jest szkic z kogutem. Pozdrawiam i ślę uściski.
ReplyDeleteDziękuje, Gigo! i will visit you at your blog very soon! Pozdrawiam też i slę uściski!
DeleteWhat a fabulous store! I would so love to wander those aisles. And how nice that the owner let you sketch, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous shop! In Belfast?
ReplyDeleteBrambles was and is a favorite,. Lisa is like that, (how I wish I had been in Belfast for this journey) I find a comfortable place whenever I arrive at the bottom of the hill and walk into this welcoming space, full of treasures and wonders, from Maine and fanciful places around the world. I always walk out with something, and with a good feeling from interaction with Brambles' owner. She was instrumental in helping me to learn about Belfast, making it easier to adjust to my new home. Snowing up a storm as I write this; your warm and vibrant sketches from Brambles warm my heart.
