Still Sketching After All These Years

I've been away from Sketchbook Wandering for awhile
& I'm sorry. I've missed the camaraderie I enjoyed here.
This covid thing, the climate thing, & the unstable world thing have shaken up a lot of our lives.
Sketching & recording in my paper journals continue to bring pleasure & meaning.
I don't go out sketching as often as I used to
(there is the tick thing & the not being around people thing.)
but I do play with art materials here at home more.
I'd be leading some sort of art gathering at my library,
but gatherings aren't allowed for now.
I attend a library art Zoom gathering, & love it,
but I'm wanting it to be in person again.

I wonder how you all are doing? If you stop by here,
I hope you'll leave me a little note.

And now, I'm off to read some of your blogs.

  1. Not a blogger, but definitely a blog reader! I enjoy seeing your sketching, and other art work (I like the ATCs you posted a few months ago). I'm mostly a dabbler at present - little sketches from memory, some calligraphy on occasion, paper crafting (cards and mini booklets) - and color play in my knitting and sewing. Always enjoy when you post! Thanks!

  2. Hi Rita, and thanks for all the catch-up today. I was thinking of you just the other day and wondering if all was OK or just the general malaise of life as we know it. I'm glad you are still sketching and journaling. I haven't painted since summer but have a couple of commissions on the horizon so must get back to it soon. Rats! That just reminded me that I didn't order more Arches paper with my latest Amazon pile today. Rick got a tick bite and it looks bad but he was tested for lyme and it came back negative so I wonder how long it will hang. Michigan is in bad Covid situation now so I'm laying relatively low. I hope you have a beautiful Thanksgiving and a good holiday season. I need to start Christmas cards soon!

    1. Yes, there is some general malaise, weariness...Yes, get back to your painting! Ticks are such a nightmare, we have a lot of tick borne disease here. I'm glad you are doing well, in spite of this strange time.

  3. I've missed your sketching - it inspired me to have a go. Here in England, we're caught in a tussle between people who believe life is back to normal so why take any precautions and others who are still staying resolutely at home. Most of us are somewhere in the middle and remembering the simple pleasures of making and doing.

    1. Nice to still have our connection! Right now it's doubtful that I'll ever return to Paris, but maybe one can hope...

  6. Here's hoping you can be with other like-minded souls soon! It is finally better here, and we've been able to be out and about more, and, of course, this is the best time of year to be outside here in Florida. Now if I could just get back in the habit of sketching... Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Kathy, I'm so glad things are better there & that you're able to get out more. The sketching will come...just as some habits that I got out of are coming back...I love your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine.

  7. Dear Rita I have certainly missed you dear one. Your sketchbook pages look wonderful. I have always loved how you capture your world with ink and watercolor. These are no exception. Hoping it will soon be safe to be out and about with others. We have returned to an almost normal place but it is very risky as we gather with others. I get the tick thing...been pulling them off me and my dogs on a regular basis. Those pesky things continue to live even during the coldest days. In fact I think they are worse because they are seeking warm bodies :) Well anyway I am "Looking Up" for you and hoping you will soon feel safe enough to be out and about. In the meantime please keep sharing your lovely sketchbooks. I so enjoy seeing them. Hugs!
