February Thoughts Turn to Travel

The Valentine Stuff is put away for another year (below),
& the February light sparks me out of my frozen January frame of mind & body.
Thoughts turn to travel & movement.
I have 3 favorite cities to which I LOVE to return (especially off season in March).
I've posed the question to myself: "But what new places are there?"
Dear Reader, I would love to hear YOUR answers for your favorite travel destinations.

  1. Rita -- As I sit here with the usual overcast skies of the winter season of Washington, I can understand your desire to travel. There are so many great places in our country to experience. Myself, I look for cultural regions rather than cities. Since you are an artist and also like cities may I suggest the Santa Fe NM area. I know it is quite far from where you live but I feel it offers such a rich vision experience. Santa Fe is within a deep cultural area. So much is left of native American housing, traditions and art. Of course you are familiar with the fact that Georgia O'Keefe spent her later years painting the landscapes etc. fairly close to Santa Fe. I feel it is a mythical area. Perhaps you have been there.

I'm sure you will get other wonderful suggestions. -- barbara

    1. Oh Barbara, Thank You!!! This is just the kind of spark I was hoping for. I've never been there but I do hear about it from artists up here!! And coming from you, with your observer's eye, & you, who knows this country so well, this is terrific!

    1. We often go to Quebec City in May. Still off season & the mountain roads are usually clear of snow...Maybe one day I'll see you there! I've never been to Italy, would LOVE to go. I've been to Montreal, fascinating, modern city & I love the French language there. Quebec Ctiy is also not far from us & we go once or twice a year...Sigh...Travel fever...Merci!

    2. I don't take the train from Paris, it's horribly expensive! I have a direct plane from Nice to Gatwick airport for only 70 euros !

  5. Well living where I do !! I would definitely say FRANCE any where , but after visiting the Provence it would be all around there, no particular town or village they are all beautiful, just waiting to be painted. Let's meet up ?, I'm sure Monique ' La Table de Nana' would join us,

  10. So you will travel in March? Lucky you! All my 'travel' will be for calendar shots: tulip and daffodil fields in Northern Washington, and the Palouse in Eastern Washington. If I could plan a big trip, I would also choose London.
