Still stitching little books...
Still incorporating my snippets of unframable art...
Still practicing patience & perseverence...
A quote from Small Victories by Anne Lamott:
"...I'm not saying that it became easy.
Like learning the piano or Spanish or meditation,
I had to practice & do poorly.
I had to read difficult material & then stay with it..."
"Then I had to try something else hard & worthy.
I had to seek wisdom & teachers."
I'm not trying anything else hard & worthy at the moment.
But I am doing less poorly at this!
Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteSo cute..
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to push the envelope and try newer things..that way we know if they are for us..
Visibly..this is for you:)
I don't think there's any sign of things done poorly. Your stiching is perfect in my eyes. Such a lovely way to use your unframeable art.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE it. It has a vintage country charm.
After going through all the hard work, I imagine it being immensely satisfying to see your artwork pulled together in such a beautiful manner!
ReplyDeleteI practice and practice my art, and the more I do, the less I think of it. Sometimes I discover real gems amongst the photographs I took years ago, before studying the craft and art of photography.
I love making blank books and art journals. A couple of years ago I learned how to do the coptic stitching. I made myself a book of white paper for art journaling, and each of my girls a book of colored paper for their "smashing." There are so many things you can do with books made in this way--they lay flat when you open them! I love what you have done with yours. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour project(s) are beautiful. Sometimes practice and perseverance are exactly what is needed.
ReplyDeleteI did send Elenka to your site to check out your bookworks. What do they say, 'a stitch in time...'
ReplyDeleteOkay, even your journals are charming...sigh. Nice to see you here dear Rita. I don't have the patience to make journals. I think I reported that to you here or somewhere, LOL!
I think you books are lovely!!
ReplyDeleteIt does look like there would be a learning curve to this. Glad you're sticking with it though, because the result is enchanting!
