Artists' Panel Discussion

I went to an artists' panel discussion on the show called
Tidal Zone, currently at our local art center.
I took notes.
I had viewed the show previously & enjoyed it on an aesthetic level,
but the artists describing their process,
not just process with materials,
but also their research, their thinking, their histories...
THAT was marvelous!
It seems to me that much of abstract art,
& non-objective art,
is about concept & process,
so artist explanations are important.
I became aware of how the actual works can be record,
or result of rich & deep work.
They spoke about rules & also serendipity.
About how exciting it is to discover what will happen
as a sequence of works is formed.

  1. If Only I could do you:)

  2. I love this -- love how you draw and sketch from life and during so many wonderful moments. You bring it all to life and I feel like I'm there with you.

And thanks for coming by my blog today. I'm always happy to see your visit!

  3. Unbelievably real . . .
    I love your sketchbook wandering . . .

  4. I love the lightness and joy I feel when I see your work!!

  5. Beautiful sketches. These faces are so full of peacefulness. Really amazing. :)))

  6. A deep understanding you already had, coming to the surface, stimulating thought and image. A wonderful post, Rita.

  7. What delightful sketches -- you seem to capture each person's character as well as their appearance.

    best... mae at

  8. Such a wonderful talent to be able to capture the essence of people so quickly like that! You are a keen observer for sure.

  9. Oh Rita - you do these sketches just wonderfully. It is always a delight to see your work. Hope you have a great fourth of July. Hugs!

  10. What a great idea to combine sketches of the artists with snippets of their words. You'll have a great way to remember the experience.

Thank you for your comments! They mean a lot to me!
