Trip to Mount Desert Island yesterday.
The politics around the National Parks depressed me,
but I was glad to be there, near Eagle Lake, Autumn at its finest.
It's one of my favorite spots in the whole world.
I felt bad that visitors from away were missing
the closed Park Loop Road of Acadia National Park.
Glorious, up close &...
...far away...
...Sweet slow pace at Eagle Lake. It has always been that the interior Carriage Paths & trails attract the quieter walkers, sitters, bike riders while the Park roads, accessible by motor car, draw a noisier sort of visitor, & a larger quantity. This year, they either didn't come, or perhaps many of them were in Bar Harbor, a noisy little tourist town if ever there was one.
FABULOUS color and contrasts! wow!
ReplyDeleteI love taking photos in quaint places too:)
ReplyDeleteLove your photos of the lake. It is the same here, we too keep away from the tourist scenery, it's just as nice on the footpaths away from the crowds.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! I have not been to Acadia for many years so it is nice to be able to visit via your photos.
ReplyDelete(yes, that's downtown dallas that i showed from the ferris wheel cage. no, i've not seen 'butter', but you're the 2nd person who mentioned it and said they thought butter sculpting was fake. :) the best butter sculpture i liked at the state fair of texas was a full-size cow being milked by a farmer w/ cats and a dog nearby).
ReplyDeleteLovely pix. but really love that bottom one with the bicycles in it. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand why you love this place: What colors ! what a light! and it seems to be so quiet and serene..
ReplyDeleteStunning photos -- esp. the clarity of that last one. Look forward to seeing your sketch versions of these. :)) When we were on Mt Desert Island a few weeks ago, it was so clogged with tourists that it was harder to appreciate the natural beauty without feeling as if we were part of a sideshow. . .
ReplyDeleteI love it there, too, Rita. If you ever visit me, you will find the North Shore to be quiet and similar in appearance and tone. These are lovely photographs!
ReplyDeleteRita -- Your photos capture the wonderful scenic beauty of the lake area that you express in your words. Tourist towns can overwhelm oneself with frenzied noise. The older I get the more I enjoy the "soft" noise of places. I hope you live near this place so you can enjoy it often. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteYour photos are as lovely as your paintings. You are quite talented. I've never been to Acadia National Park, but you make me want to go.
